Supposedley a copy of Stratovox(Taito).
Well got the back door off today - whats inside?

1982 Streets Defender

Its a whole new world -One of the greatest games in arcade history is now downstairs in my workshop!
 Hey,its not the massive  beautiful black red and yellow cabinet,
nope..its the sparkly spangley Uk version from Streets!!
 No life in it at all,the first time I have seen a Williams Boardset!
 Magnificent!
Taking this apart after my initial `does it work test`, I came across a new phenomenon - a bloody mouse nest in the base.I had fitted wheels to this game and thought the initial debris coming out from the base was just years worth of crap!!

 So I got to work fast-Tried to Hoover it up,blocked my hoover twice!
 I prefer the chemical bath approach-hinges are bitches and screws-while replaceable  are more special when they are turned from rusty ruined items into clean sparkly(There`s that word again) usable items
 The Beatles once sang `all you need is rust` or something similar!

I`ve removed the back door hinges and moved to the lower door-Cat 1 is fascinated by the mouse nest smell.
 While I`m trying to label everything logically -I|`m finding weird hack wiring jobs,I assume this game has functioned with these hacks,but maybye it has never worked since it was original...read read read!





WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT??
Ok So I`ve got  some water damage,loads around the base some on the left side also flaking MDF on the control panel.
 My Brother(Hi Colin!) gave me some small vices and im doing a wood hardener/wood glue approach -its slow progress but its actually working!

Rapid update,all screws and hinges are now clean rust free and back in place.
Monitor is next,due to swelling monitor is not sliding out as intended.

OK got the monitor sliding out-Ordered a new psu from the US and will update soon!

1984 New Build -Bomb Jack-Tehkan

Broken monitor,ordered bezel...Got original PCB not cheap..
Replaced T-moulding measured control panel,Got Marquee -Just need plexi or glass for it.
The artwork is being done by Muddymusic(Olly) from Uk vac and it looks splendid.

 The monitor (a Wells Gardner K7000) has been capped but is giving me hell -Its the first monitor I have worked on and its working,then broken,then working then curling then no blue then no picture ,then vertical collapse..sigh*

1980 Atari Battlezone

I love Battlezone!!
 This is the cabaret version which is pretty rare,it looks like its been in storage for quite a while,the PCB is clean a bit of damage to the lower part of the cabinet.
 The only thing working on this is the marquee light ,monitor board has a red LED which lights up but no life.
 I`m being disciplined.
 Continue with the Night Driver restore,then on to the luvverly Battlezone!!
 I sneakily added the High score kit to the PCB(Tee!Hee!)
  Ok So I got the game playing blind,a couple of fuses and using the Ar2 power supply hack-
Now Im working on the Monitor.There was a 5amp fuse out on the monitor board replaced that and no Joy -The watchdog LED is still lit.
 Doing a little research as the monitor is getting power but no video signal.
 This is the scary monitor with the 12,000 volts -I bought a high voltage probe to discharge it and it worked - although it did give me the thrill of the discharge again;)

1976 Atari Night Driver Restore

This is different.
After collecting consoles,tapes,carts we are moving up a league.
Big MDF and plywood boxes with a small delicate PCB inside,dangerous electronics,rusty power supplies,unknown splices and multiple owners.
 Once an arcade game had served its time as a coin gobbling money maker-it was either scrapped/stored or in the few lucky examples taken into someones home and loved.
 If you have one out of storage(most seem to be stored in damp areas,like under waterfalls etc),you will learn to love bodyfiller,wood glue,spray paint.
 Chewed edges, T-Moulding,bad traces will become part of your day-to-day conversation.
 Welcome to arcade restoration.
